Decisions

Michelle made a lot of decisions that were key to the plot of the story. Biggest of all she kept with the decision to keep fighting for survival. Claude made a good point about this; you were given a life so do your best with what you are given don’t throw it away. Another Decision she made was to choose that her friends and boyfriend had given up on her which was not entirely true. Her boyfriend Rob was still in love with her no matter what she looked like. She also decided to put the wig on then take it off, this greatly showed that she was accepting herself knowing people still loved her.

If I were in the shoes of Michelle I would make almost all of the same decisions. I realize that life is a privilege and not a right, so live life to the fullest even when you are down. When my friends would all show up to see me then rapidly disappear I would come up with the same conclusion that they had forgotten all about me unless they continued to show up regularly. As for her decision to take off the wig, I don’t think I could do that. I would just not be able to face the image of myself like that on a daily basis. The decisions we make just go that much further to show that we are humans and we have different values.

Persuasive Paragraph “Hey there wanna buy a Tank?”

What Canada does in selling firearms to middle east countries is certainly not right but if its necessary for our country then i’m fine with it. One thing i do not like however is the fact that the weaponry we export could possibly be used against us in the war. Think about it 300Million in firearms, some of it must be in Afganistan. That is really my only concern, the government no matter who is in charge will always be doing something behind the peoples back without telling, and will always be that way. If they were forced to tell every little detail of there moves this country would be in chaos with people protesting the actions. Anyways thats all i really have to say on the topic, have a greeeeeeeeeeeat day!

Courage & Leadership

Courage and Leadership are very common things to see in literature. Novels with courage and leadership always seem to contain a main character who is what you might say an underdog in some sort. They are bascically unknown but they show great courage and leadership to make it through the quest they are on. They overcome major adversity such as in Lord of The Rings when it seems they are done for they pull out a few tricks and get the job done. Just goes to show that even when all odds are stacked up against you things are still possible.

A book that i read recently that showed great courage was Mattimeo. It is part of the Redwall series and is about a warrior mouse who is on a journey to find his boy after a travelling entertainment band drugs all the people of the abbys drinks. Then steals all the young children to sell for slavery. Even after being attacked by large mobs vermin, he and his friends still reach there goal and win a huge fight to rescue all the children. That is the kind of person everyone dreams of being one day or another, the one who saves the day!

Science Fiction

Science Fiction

Science fiction novels often take place in the future or present and they always have a scientific explanation to back them up. In the fine print it will often explain about things such as explosions and such things and the damage they can do, they are written more as a warning about how to much technology put into the wrong hands can lead to utter devastation. That is why some people don’t like some of the technology and weaponry the military has come up with.

A Science Fiction novel that we read was The Crysalids. It is about a community in the future that lives like pioneers because in the past a Nuclear Bomb was dropped on them and all knowledge and race was lost. So they rebuilt and live to wipe out all deviants to find the “true race” or image. It fits into this genre because it is very well scientific explained. This is shown in example of how they described the helicopter in the end so scientific but using words that they could understand. I found this book interesting because of how it shows how religions vary all around the world. It was also cool to see how hard they tried to catch David, Rosalind, and Petra just for some information.

Fantasy!

Fantasy

Fantasy novels often have to do with adventurers and medieval warriors that take place in a made up “Fantasy World. Popular themes related to fantasy are unknown warriors turning into heroes and people going on a big adventure. Also there are lots of war scenes. Good Vs Evil is always placed into a good fantasy novel one way or another because they are often very conflicted. The good guy defeats the bad guy in pretty much everything I’ve read or seen related to fantasy.

Some of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings series. It fits into the genre very well because it is about Hobbits that go on a massive adventure and run into many obstacles on the way. There are a lot of good and evil characters and even a few war/fighting scenes. It was a long time ago that I read the books so I’m not exactly sure how they ended but I’m sure that the good people won. The Lord of the Rings are so popular because of their age and there author J.R. Tolken.

Mystery and suspence

MYSTERY AND SUSPENCE

Mystery novels, more times than not, have a good guy and a bad guy. Lots of times you will not know exactly who the good guy is or who is the bad guy, the good guy may be acting good and so will the good guy but someone will turn bad near the end. There are tense moments between the two characters that build up until they reach a climax, which is the highest point of tension. Mystery novels also have a lot of distractions that both keep you on your heels and keep you reading. Something big will happen so they will lead you off on ideas but when you hit a dead end you are then led onto another route until you find one with a continuous road.

A story that we have read this year and had good mystery/suspense was The Death Trap. It gave you a distinguished good guy who in this story was Armando’s assistant and the Bad guy was Sheriff Massin. There was tense build up from the first time the two met until the day they found the Sheriff had put finger locks into the strait jacket. After Armando went down and never came back up and the Crane broke there were a lot of distractions. They led you to believe that Armando was dead, then when the assistant allegedly ran into Armando and Tina Massin it led you to believe that he had gotten away and ran away with the girl.

The Unexplained

The Unexplained

The Unexplained are things that no one knows anything about them or why they occur. Such things would be Big Foot, aliens, and ESP. They continue to be covered in the media and movies because lots of people believe that they are real and may want to know about them. Also, in movies people find them interesting and things related to the unexplained can make for really scary movies. Writing related to the unexplained is usually very mysterious and creepy.

A good mystery story that we read was Crop Circles Appear on Saskatchewan Reserve. I found it really cool how those circles could appear in the fields and there was no trace of foot prints or marks going in or out of the field. They believed that the circles were caused by humans but were unable to find any good evidence, and within days any evidence would have been destroyed because of people walking into the field to check out the circles. The owner of the field was wondering whether it really could have been aliens but I don’t think it was since I don’t believe in aliens.
